I attended the swan hills lets agm on valentines day at the mundaring learning centre. Wonderful place they are now members of swan hill lets

they had some great ideas pasta nights wonderfeast casserole nights and christmas breakfast in the park.

they meet once a month and I think that keeps the interst up in trading as when members get together trading happens they charge five dollrs for membership and I discovered that some eastern state lets dont charge at all and that may be a good idea and would get rid of the not paying subs problems  They had 512 transactions for the year wow and they have ebanking an easy way to pay subs *******************************

####  Then RockyLETS  may have the answer! ####

Getting help with the housework, your car tuned or other services listed in the trading sheet can be done without cash.

It may sound fantastic but it works!

So do you.

That is the basis of the system.

You get goods and services by providing other goods and services to members of the group.

What does it cost?

The answer is $12 per year to cover administration and postage. Your only responsibility is to reciprocate with someone in LETS.

A local currency called "ROCKS" is used

Can anyone use a LETSystem?

Yes. By becoming a member of a LETSystem you join a community based, no profit, not political group that exchanges goods and services between members

What is a LETSystem?

A LETSystem is a trading network supported by its own internal currency. It is self-regulating and allows its users to manage and issue their own 'money supply' within the boundaries of the network.

When did LETS start?

Michael Linton is the designer of the LETSystem. He emigrated from Britain to the west coast of Canada in the 1970's. In 1983 the first LETSystem in the world was implemented in the Comox Valley on Vancouver Island.

Do I have to earn before I can spend?

No, that's not necessary. All accounts begin at zero.

Can I split my charges and ask for part LETS units and part cash?

Of course, whatever makes sense for you. You may have cash costs to meet as part of the trade and you will usually want to recover those.

Why use a LETSystem when you have cash and credit?

For most of us, cash is hard-won and even harder to hold on to. It is in limited supply. But the internal currency of a LETSystem is never in short supply, since the LETSystem money is issued as and when it is required.

How can voluntary groups use LETSystem?

Because LETSystem money is easier to earn - it is also easier to give away. Voluntary associations which accept donations in local (LETSystem) money can use it to reward volunteers and to pay for essential services without using up their cash budget.
